Athletics
Athletics has grown from strength to strength in Mount Sion C.B.S. over the last number of years. The school athletics calendar begins in September and goes right through until May, consisting of multi-events, cross country and track & field. Training is held every Wednesday with Ms. Moloney and Mr. Upton. Training begins at 1:00 every Wednesday and aims to finish about 1.45/1.50. We often take trips to the R.S.C. - our local track - prior to competitions for specific work in events.
Athletics training is offered to anybody who has a keen interest in being involved in a school club, be it for participation in getting to meet new friends in a club environment, athletics, aiming to get fit, improve acceleration or speed biomechanics or just to even have fun and not compete. We cater for all willing to give it a go. The club has had great success over the last few years with athletes reaching All-Ireland cross-country level as well as Munster Championship track & field level. Some of our participants have gone on to join clubs in the wider community. We look forward to seeing all the new incoming participants in the new school year.
