Students Council
The Mount Sion C.B.S. Student Council is a democratically elected council that aims to give an official voice to the student body. The council also allows the boys elected to it to develop their leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.
Members are elected by firstly completing an application form that is reviewed by the Student Council Facilitator. The review essentially ensures that prospective candidates have maintained a certain standard in the school up to that point. Each class within the school has one elected member. The election itself involves a secret ballot with single-member plurality voting (or first past the post) employed.
The Student Council allows for the official voice of the boys to be considered at meetings including both staff and Board of Management level.
The Mount Sion C.B.S. Student Council has engaged in much work up to this point. Some highlights include our local area litter picking campaign. Members of the school are tasked with walking the outer perimeter of the school following the main lunch break with litter pickers and black sacks in order to reduce our litter impact on the local community as much as possible. The Council is also involved in the ever-popular 'Last Man Standing' competition that generates a great spirit between staff and students alike. Most importantly, the Student Council as previously mentioned, allows for the official voice of the boys to be considered at meetings including both staff and Board of Management level. This ensures that the student body will have a say in school policies and procedures which may affect them.
